Our Challenge

How could we make it easier for patients to make a choice as to which hospital to go to for both Elective and Emergency care using a patient facing online tool, whilst enabling greater and more informed patient choice and helping smooth the demand and waiting times across care providers in the area?

“Conjure gave a clear recap, expectation setting & activities through the Discovery workshop. It was very well run, organised and gave us very concrete and actionable outcomes to take forward!”

Working in Tandem

In close partnership with the Innovation and Intelligent Automation (IIA) team at Royal Free London, we needed to demonstrate the application potential at pace, with an initial development to utilise only Royal Free data and static data for other sites in a user acceptance testing (UAT) setting.

Designing new tools with patients to interface with NHS

The ‘Waiting List’ online service, developed in close collaboration with our innovation design team and guided by the expertise of the Intelligent Automation (IIA) team during a 5-day design sprint workshop, is a rapidly created online service designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of how patients interface with their NHS.

The long term vision is to utilise HealtheIntent for elective data and build an API for integration of non-elective data to achieve a more sustainable and scalable approach. Our work focussed on developing for the web, ensuring seamless usability and an intuitive user experience for everyone using the service.

A responsive web application was built with integration into Google navigation service as well as a dedicated NHS waiting time data source. Our application design follows the recommended NHS digital service manual guideline.

From planning to discovery to an MVP product ready to be used across London, we have designed and developed a digital service — steered by staff and patients; and today continue to maintain the development of this essential web application and service design.
